Prostitution- A different perspective

After the New York major incident and after we all found out that he had paid prostitues we have all come to different parts of the debate, some against it and some for it. The big question is, should prostitution be made legal like in the netherlands or should offenders be punished like in Sweden?

I think that prostitution is a growing society, a growing industry where more and more people are getting involved and in eastern countries even small girls are being put in the streets. In countries where prostitution isn't legal the owners of the prostitutes are really harsh to them and they have no medical check up or no "protection" from these people, instead they roam the streets and get paid for doing all kinds of things, they are also sometimes beaten by their owners. In the Netherlands is legal and they all get check ups and they look quite clean, whereas in Sweden whoever pays for sex will get punished by the law since its an offence against the law. What should our society do?
